Some interesting new products on our pages this month, including the new range of Swallow timber greenhouses and the new Growhouse.

Some exciting news - we can offer 30% discount on all Robinsons greenhouse packages and 30% discount on Alton greenhouse packages and an 10% discount on the marvellous Robinsons Victorian greenhouse.

We supplied one of these buildings last month, here in Cornwall, finished in an attractive ivory colour.. Prices start around the £4,000 mark including free installation, by Robinsons trained installers, on your dwarf wall. Remember we can offer a custom-made service. In fact we have finished a 10' x 14' greenhouse that had a reduced ridge height, due to planning restrictions.

Owing to the HOT weather we have been selling auto vent openers like the proverbial hot-cakes! You can automate the whole greenhouse including louvre vents and safely leave the greenhouse to look after itself.

We've all experienced some wet and windy weather lately and snow! Hopefully a few warm April showers is what we can expect now and that conditions in our gardens will improve.

We've started small sowings of rocket, radishes,spring onions, lettuce in a raised bed in a greenhouse and already have broad beans in flower and potatoes peeping through in another.

The last few weeks have been unusually cold and snowy, even down here in sunny Cornwall. The garden has taken quite a battering but our winter salad crops have come through in an unheated greenhouse at home - just some fleece keep the worst of the cold off ofthem!

Weather has really changed now with heavy rain and STRONG winds. We have been cleaning through our two greenhouses at home. Washing whole structures down with water and a well-known garden disinfectant ( beginning with J ). It's amazing how the light levels rise when the glass is cleaned ! It's a good time to check on any cracked panes of glass, to clean out the gutters and generally give the greenhouse a once over.

Already we have winter lettuce, rocket, spinach being cropped in one greenhouse and we have also sown some broad beans. It's really satisfying to see a greenhouse being used properly during the winter and its easy but remember that ventilation is still needed to some extent during the winter, heating will really extend the growing season but watering is really on a 'needs must' basis.

We have recently been receiving many enquiries about bespoke or custom-built greenhouses. Unfortunately not everything is possible but please contact us if you would like to chat about your idea. We can't show all our standard products on the website so please contact us for our best prices!

Time to be thinking about some form of protection for you plants during the winter. This year we have been busy with polytunnels - these offer good protection at a fraction of the cost of a conventional greenhouse.

Another interest this year has been dwarf wall greenhouses. These look as if they 'belong' and can be an attractive addition to the garden. We continue to be asked about our 'custom-build- greenhouse service and have a look at our geodesic dome page. We supplied one, earlier this year for BBC2 'It's not easy being green' and we have some examples throughout the UK should you wish to see one - exciting and innotive buildings.
